Diego López: "In the end we got a point that was useful to us, even though we wanted the victory"
Statements from Diego López after the last game of the season.
Going up against it
The blow that we received in the first minute hurt us. We came out wanting to get out of the situation. It was a hard blow to suffer because we had that desire, that motivation, and I think it affected us in the first half. The interval was good for us, the coach's instructions helped us and I think we came out differently in the second half -which was reflected in how we played.
Focusing on their own game
The coach told us not to look at other results. The ones who had to deal with the situation were us and we weren't depending on other teams. We didn't know anything, but in the end we got a point that was useful to us, even though we wanted the victory. The objective, although we have nothing to celebrate, has been accomplished.
Feeling grateful to the fans
It is more a sense of liberation. It's been a difficult few months. I wanted to thank the people who have come here and all the people who have gone to Mestalla this year, because they have seen performances that they did not deserve. That isn't Valencia CF. Many thanks to the fans for their support throughout the year. Next year things will improve.
Reward for hard work
I have been working hard for many years, since I was very young. I come from a very hard-working town. My parents have instilled in me that with hard work, effort and sacrifice you can get anywhere, and step by step I have been chipping away. I have been lucky that the coach has given me the opportunity and I was able to take advantage of it. I also thank the coach for trusting in me, for the opportunity he gave me. We are here to help as much as possible.
